The SteriPen Pre-Filter is perfect for getting sediment, bugs, and other assorted floaties out of your water before you purify it with UV light, giving you clean, healthy water to drink just about anywhere. Fits perfectly onto a widemouth Nalgene bottle or any other 63mm-mouth bottle, including widemouth Klean Kanteens, Camelbak, and MSR bottles. The Pre-Filter also helps protect the bottle threads from contamination by untreated drops of water.
How to use Steripen pre filter:
Pour water through the durable 40 micron screen filter cartridge to fill the bottle. Then you’re ready to purify the water with a Steripen UV water purifier. Remove the filter cartridge from the Steripen Pre Filter, insert the Steripen water purifier into the center of the filter, flip the bottle, and agitate the water until the Steripen indicates the treatment is complete.
May be used alone or with SteriPen when clear water is not available. Water is filtered by either submersing the water bottle or by pouring water into the top of the pre-filter. The Steripen pre filter removes particles as the water drains into the water bottle. At that point, the water in the bottle is clear and ready for treatment with the SteriPen.
Note: the blue component pictured is not a drinking spout, it is an air valve for use when filling the water bottle.
Steripen pre filter instructions:
The Pre-Filter can be used in two ways: “Pour-through” and “Immersion.”
Pour-through:
1) Screw Pre-Filter base onto Nalgene® type 32 fl. oz. (1 litre) wide-mouth bottle until tight.
2) Insert filter cartridge into opening in Pre-Filter base with open end of cartridge down. Twist filter cartridge to lock in place and pull air vent valve open.
3) Pour water through filter cartridge until bottle is filled to desired level.
4) Remove Pre-Filter base and cartridge as a unit from bottle. Remove cartridge from filter base and wipe away particulates from base with cloth. Rinse particulates from cartridge if necessary.
5) After cleaning, screw Pre-Filter base onto water bottle until tight.
Immersion:
Note: The “O” ring on the rim of the filter base seals against the flange of the water bottle neck to prevent untreated water from contaminating the threads and outer rim of the bottle.
1) Screw Pre-Filter base onto Nalgene® type 32 fl. oz. (1 litre) wide-mouth bottle until tight.
2) Insert filter cartridge into opening in Pre-Filter base with open end of cartridge down. Twist filter cartridge until it locks into place and pull air vent valve open.
3) Completely immerse water bottle with Pre-Filter end up.
4) Once water bottle is filled to desired level, remove from water and wipe away droplets from filter base, making sure the upper portion of water bottle is dry.
5) Remove Pre-Filter base and cartridge as a unit from bottle. Remove cartridge from filter base and wipe away particulates from filter base with cloth. Rinse particulates from cartridge if necessary.

Returns will be accepted as long as they are shipped back to us within 30 days of purchase. Items accepted for return must be unopened, in the original packaging, and with all tags attached.
Directions and conditions for refunds:
1. The buyer must contact us and ship all items within 30 days from the date they received the original order.
2. The buyer must pay all return shipping costs.
3. Returned items must be received in the same condition as they were sent in order to qualify for a full refund. For items that have been opened, used, damaged, or no longer have the original packaging or tags, 20% to 50% will be deducted from the refund. This allows us to recover a portion of the items loss in value. The exact amount of the deduction will depend on the condition of the returned item when we receive it.
4. Refund is for the item price only. Shipping charges are not refundable.
Exceptions to these conditions may be made at our discretion on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
Please do not return items to us after 30 days have passed. Items returned after 30 days will not be refunded.

Please understand that all shipping providers are currently undergoing shipping delays that are out of my control. If the shipping option you want is not listed, feel free to contact me and I would be happy to add it for you. If your address is APO/FPO, please be aware that there can be long delays in receiving your shipment. It can take up to one month or more to receive your item. Please do not purchase if this is not acceptable to you.
Sometimes we use recycled packaging materials for shipping, as long as they are in good condition. This lowers our costs, which enables us to offer better prices to our customers. It also saves resources and lowers our carbon footprint. In short, it's good for the planet. If you do not want your item shipped in recycled packaging, simply send us a note at checkout and we will gladly ship your item using only new packaging materials.
